Fresh off his solo debut Resolve EP for Y4 Collective last Fall, London-based ex-Brooklyner D.D. Curry is back with another two hot morsels on the Fortune Signal label that he is a founder of. 'How I Roll' is a jaunty slab of pumped-up deep house with some tough edges. Deliciously thick bass vibrates under dubby chord stabs and heavily reverbed Rhodes notes, with infectious groove built up by rough snare chatters, techy rides and woodblock and cowbell spasms. A lush breakdown gives a palate-cleansing moment before the groove thumps back into action. 'You Got This' convincingly channels vintage 2-step UKG to great effect with sub-aquatic basstones rinsing out a head-snapping drum track and mystical synth & key motifs creating a late-night jazzy/loungey touch that's a perfect call-back to the genres roots.
