East London's J-Man makes his Fortune Signal debut with the 'Cut 2 Size' EP. Never one to take himself too seriously, J-Man's playful approach is evident on the pair of original tracks that highlight his love for UKG and house. Through wobbly basslines, skippy drums, playful vocals, both tracks are party starters. "Cut 2 Size" pays homage to classic rave sounds and "Sequence" explores a slightly darker, driving aesthetic.
Remixes from Danvers and Quantreau offer broken beat perspectives. Danvers, one half of the UK duo Kassian, brings fresh synth blips and modulated bass to "Cut 2 Size" in a disorienting club-forward rework. Fortune Signal co-founder Quantreau takes on "Sequence," serving up a crunchy electro remix.
